Northern New Jersey
Maternal/Child Health Consortium will be
celebrating 15 years of dedicated service to
improving the health of mothers, children and
families throughout northern New Jersey. As a part
of this milestone, the Board will recognize Senator
Loretta Weinberg, who has advocated tirelessly on
behalf of women and children’s health.
They are honoring Senator Weinberg for furthering
their mission by: lobbying to require health
insurers to screen for cervical cancer, for
requiring staffing standards at health care and
ambulatory facilities and establishing a Safe
Patient Handling Act, for supporting New Hope,
Inc., which assists first-time mothers and their
babies, for enabling physicians to earn CME’s by
providing care to low income and uninsured
patients, for supporting the NJ Smoke-Free Air Act,
for requiring HMOs to report cases of lead
poisoning, and for helping to establish a
Department for Children and Families. “These are
just a few of the ways in which Loretta has helped
us to achieve our mission,” says President &
CEO, Ilise Zimmerman, MPH, MS
